Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complicated disorder characterized by extreme fatigue that can’t be explained by any obvious underlying medical condition. The fatigue may worsen with physical or mental activity, but doesn’t improve with rest.
The exact causes of chronic fatigue syndrome are still mostly unknown. It may be a combination of factors that affect people who were born with a predisposition for the disorder (genetics).
Suspected causes include:
- Compromised gut health and gut dysfunction
- Immune system issues
- Hormonal imbalances
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Viral infections
So how can an imbalance in the gut health lead to chronic fatigue?
An imbalance of unfriendly bacteria or other foreign substances can dig into our gut lining, weakening our gut lining, leaking into our body. These foreign substances enter the blood stream through the damaged gut lining, sparking an immune response, over time, as antibodies are manufactured to combat them, inflammation begins which can lead to chronic inflammation anywhere in the body as they circulate through the blood. This is a root cause of an overflow of common chronic conditions such as allergies, chronic fatigue and auto-immune disease. This underlying factor can be present in any presenting chronic illness.
To treat chronic fatigue, TACGA specialize in looking deeper at all the contributory factors such as food intolerances and allergies, dysfunctional genes, hidden infections, family history, leaky gut, deficiencies of certain vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids, stress and environmental factors, helping to identify the source of the issue. We employ Bio-Individual Nutrition- whereby a person’s individual biological, biochemical and genetic variations are considered to determine nutritional interventions based on the body’s actual needs. We do this using nutrigenomic testing methods, biochemical approaches through urine testing, gut microflora sequencing, digestive capability assessments and symptomatic evaluations with an experienced clinician.
Nutrigenomics, especially, offers a unique and precise way to determine a person’s nutritional requirements for optimal health based on their biological blueprint. Put simply, we test a variety of genes, then ‘turn them up or down’ to change the way the gene is affecting the body using food based interventions. “You are what you eat” holds true- our bodies are literally built from the food we eat. However, as every person is built uniquely, so is the effect of various foods on our body and brain. This recognition has led to the development of a nutrition approach called “Bio-Individual Nutrition”, whereby a person’s individual biological, biochemical and genetic variations are considered to determine nutritional interventions based on the body’s actual needs. The traditional ‘one size fits all’ approach is simply outdated.
We understand the social isolation that comes with Chronic Fatigue. The depression that comes with not being able to work, go out with friends, even walking to the letterbox is too much. If you are ready to get to the root cause of the problem and want a step by step personalised plan of action, please contact us and book in for an assessment. We’d love to help you back to better health.
